Chapter 6: Gilderoy Lockhart The new school year begins, and Gilderoy Lockhart, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, quickly becomes a source of amusement and frustration for the students and staff. Lockhart is vain and incompetent, obsessed with his own fame. During his first class, he demonstrates his lack of practical knowledge by releasing a cage of Cornish Pixies, which cause chaos in the classroom. Hermione, despite her admiration for Lockhart, starts to see through his facade. Meanwhile, Harry begins hearing strange voices in the walls, adding to the growing sense of unease and mystery at Hogwarts.
Chapter 7: Mudbloods and Murmurs The rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin intensifies during Quidditch practice. Draco Malfoy calls Hermione a "Mudblood," a derogatory term for Muggle-born witches and wizards, leading to a heated argument and fight. Ron tries to curse Malfoy but ends up cursing himself due to his broken wand. Tensions rise as the students prepare for the Quidditch match, and Harry continues to hear the mysterious voices. Later, Harry, Ron, and Hermione discover Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat, petrified near a message written in blood: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware." This ominous message sparks fear and curiosity among the students and staff.
Chapter 8: The Deathday Party Nearly Headless Nick invites Harry, Ron, and Hermione to his Deathday Party, a ghostly celebration marking the anniversary of his death. The party is a gloomy affair, filled with other ghosts and morbid activities. Harry hears the strange voice again, and this time it leads them to the scene of another attack: Colin Creevey has been petrified. The trio realizes that the attacks are connected to the opening of the Chamber of Secrets. They begin to investigate the legend of the chamber, learning about its history and the possibility that a monster is responsible for the attacks.
Chapter 9: The Writing on the Wall The school is on high alert after the second attack, and fear spreads among the students and staff. Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their investigation, discovering that the Chamber of Secrets was opened fifty years ago. They suspect that Draco Malfoy might be the heir of Slytherin and decide to use Polyjuice Potion to disguise themselves as Slytherin students to gather information. Meanwhile, Harry is troubled by his connection to the mysterious voice, which seems to be getting stronger. The chapter ends with the trio preparing to brew the complex and risky Polyjuice Potion.
Chapter 10: The Rogue Bludger During the Quidditch match against Slytherin, a rogue Bludger targets Harry, attempting to knock him off his broom. Despite the Bludger's relentless attacks, Harry manages to catch the Golden Snitch and win the game for Gryffindor, but not without injury. In the hospital wing, Dobby visits Harry and reveals that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened before and that terrible things will happen at Hogwarts. Dobby's warnings become more urgent, and he hints at the involvement of Lucius Malfoy. The chapter heightens the sense of danger and urgency surrounding the mystery of the chamber. |
