第十八章 斯莱特林的继承人

Chapter 18 The Heir of Slytherin

哈利站在一个巨大的房间里。房间里有一种奇异的绿光。哈利能看到许多石柱。石柱上盘绕着石蛇。

Harry is standing in a large chamber. There is a strange green light in the chamber. Harry can see many stone pillars. There are stone serpents climbing the stone pillars.

哈利非常害怕。他的心跳得很快。蛇怪在哪里？金妮在哪里？

Harry is very scared. His heart is beating very fast. Where is the basilisk? Where is Jenny?

哈利沿着房间向前走。他的魔杖握在手中，随时准备着。房间后方的墙壁上，有一道巨大的楼梯。

Harry moves forward down the chamber. His wand is ready in his hand. Against the back wall of the chamber there is an enormous staircase.

哈利抬头看着雕像巨大的脸。那张脸留着长长的胡须。石头的胡须几乎垂到了地面。哈利能看到雕像巨大的石脚。

Harry looks up at the giant face of the statue. The face has a long beard. The stone beard almost touches the floor. Harry can see the giant stone feet of the statue.

在那里，在两只脚之间，哈利看到一个人。他们脸朝下躺着。哈利能看到鲜红色的头发。

And there, between the feet, Harry sees someone. They are lying face down. Harry can see bright red hair.

“金妮！”哈利喊道。他朝她跑去。“金妮，求你别死了。别死了！”

Jenny! yells Harry. He runs to her. Jenny, please don't be dead. Don't be dead!

他把魔杖扔到地上，翻过金妮的身子。她的脸像大理石一样苍白，一样冰冷。她的眼睛闭着。她没有被石化。

He throws his wand to the ground and turns Jenny over. Her face is as white as marble and as cold. Her eyes are closed. She is not petrified.

那么她一定是……“金妮，求你，醒醒！”哈利说。他摇晃着她。她一动不动。

Then she must be... Jenny, please, wake up! says Harry. He shakes her. She does not move.

“她不会醒来的，”一个轻柔的声音说。哈利吃惊地跳了起来。他抬起头。

She won't wake up, says a quiet voice. Harry jumps with surprise. He looks up.

那里有一个高高的身影。他很高大！一个黑头发的男孩。这个男孩身上有非常奇怪的地方。他很模糊。

There is a tall building. It's huge! boy with black hair. There is something very strange about the boy. He is blurry.

但是哈利立刻认出了他。“汤姆？汤姆·里德尔？”哈利问道。汤姆上下点了点头，表示肯定。他继续看着哈利。

But Harry recognizes him immediately. Tom? Tom Riddle? asks Harry. Tom nods his head up and down, yes. He continues looking at Harry.

“你说她不会醒来是什么意思？”哈利说。“她……她……她还活着，”里德尔说，“但只是勉强。”

What do you mean she won't wake up? Harry says. Is she? Is she? She's still alive, says Riddle, but only barely.

哈利仔细地看着他。汤姆·里德尔五十年前在霍格沃茨，但是眼前的这个男孩不超过十六岁。“你是鬼吗？”哈利说。“不，我不是鬼。”

Harry looks closely at him. Tom Riddle was at Hogwarts 50 years ago, but the boy in front of him is not older than 16. Are you a ghost? Harry says. No, I'm not a ghost.

“我是一个记忆，”里德尔说，“一个在日记里保存了五十年的记忆。”他指着雕像的一个脚趾。在那里，地面上，是哈利在哭泣的桃金娘的浴室里找到的日记。

I 'm a memory, says Riddle. A memory preserved in a diary for 50 years. He points his finger towards one of the statue's toes. There, on the ground, is the diary Harry found in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.

哈利想知道它是怎么到那里的，但是他想起了金妮。“汤姆，你必须帮帮我，”哈利试图说着。哈利正试图抱起金妮。“我们必须把她弄出去。蛇怪可能会来。我不知道它在哪里。请帮帮我。”

Harry wonders how it got there, but he remembers Ginny. Tom, you've got to help me, Harry says, trying. Harry is trying to pick up Ginny. We have got to get her out of here. The basilisk may come. I don't know where it is. Please help me.

里德尔一动不动。哈利伸手去拿魔杖，想要更多的光亮，但是他的魔杖不见了。他抬起头。里德尔正拿着哈利的魔杖。里德尔露出了奇怪的笑容。

Riddle does not move. Harry reaches for his wand to have more light, but his wand is gone. He looks up. Riddle is holding Harry's wand in his hand. Riddle has a strange smile.
