1. You might have heard a lot about the Internet, but do you really know what it is? The Internet is a massive network of connected computers. 2. It uses telephone lines, satellites, and other technologies to link millions of computers worldwide. 3. At first, that might not sound particularly exciting. 4. However, once you’re connected to the Internet, there’s a world of possibilities at your fingertips. 5. You can send emails to friends and family, and they can receive them within seconds. 6. You can also access a vast amount of information on the World Wide Web (WWW). 7. Computers today come in many forms, and they all have the capability to connect to the Internet. 8. From desktops to laptops and even smartphones, they can all link to the global network. 9. While many of these computers are personal devices found in homes, others are located in schools, offices, and large corporations. 10. These machines may belong to individuals or organizations, but no one owns the Internet as a whole. 11. There are numerous ways to access the Internet. 12. For instance, your school might have computers connected to the Internet. 13. You can often use them during class or in your free time. 14. Libraries also frequently provide computers with Internet access. 15. Visitors are usually welcome to use these computers at any time. 16. The Internet has made the world feel smaller and more connected than ever before. 17. With a computer at home, you can work remotely, accessing and sharing information with ease. 18. You can also shop online, buying and selling almost anything through the Internet. 19. However, did you know that approximately 98% of the content on the Internet is in English? 20.
