1. For many years, Americans have enjoyed tele-shopping, which means watching TV and ordering products by phone. 2. Now, tele-shopping is starting to become popular in Europe. 3. In several European countries, people can turn on their TVs and buy items such as clothes, jewelry, food, toys, and many other products. 4. Tele-shopping is growing in popularity in Sweden, for example. 5. The largest Swedish company sells a variety of items on TV across 15 European countries, and in just one year, it earned $100 million. 6. In France, there are two tele-shopping channels, and the French people spend about $20 million each year buying products from these channels. 7. In Germany, tele-shopping was only available on one channel for one hour every day until last year. 8. After that, the government allowed more tele-shopping to be shown. 9. Other channels can now broadcast tele-shopping, including the largest American company in this field and a company offering 24-hour tele-shopping. 10. German business owners hope that this increase in tele-shopping will help them sell more products. 11. Some people enjoy tele-shopping because it lets them shop without leaving their homes. 12. This is especially helpful because of the traffic problems in cities. 13. However, some Europeans do not like this new shopping method. 14. They call tele-shopping "junk on the air." 15. Many Europeans are concerned about the quality of the products sold on TV. 16. Quality is very important to them, and they feel unsure about the quality of items bought through tele-shopping. 17. The demand for high quality means that European tele-shopping companies will need to be different from American companies. 18. They will need to pay more attention to the quality of the products they offer. 19. Additionally, they will have to work harder to sell products that buyers cannot touch or see in person.
