4. When Mr. Smith disagreed, saying he thought he exercised enough, the doctor interrupted him.

7. He recommended that Mr. Smith take a brisk 20-minute walk every day to improve his health.

10. He warned Mr. Smith that without regular exercise, he risked gaining weight and developing health problems.

11. Mr. Smith responded by saying he did walk every single day.

12. The doctor, unimpressed, said he already knew what kind of “walking” Mr. Smith was referring to.

13. He explained that Mr. Smith likely walked only short distances—to the bus stop, to his office, and to lunch, which didn’t count as real exercise.

14. The doctor clarified that what he meant was a proper walk, such as in a park or by a lake, lasting at least 20 minutes.

15. Frustrated, Mr. Smith interrupted the doctor and insisted he needed to listen carefully.

16. Mr. Smith, now a little angry, revealed that he was a postman and walked nearly seven hours a day.
