1. It was Mother's Day, but the young mother was a little unhappy because she was 800 miles away from her parents.

2. In the morning she phoned her mother to wish her a happy Mother's Day, and her mother told her that there were beautiful lilacs in the garden.

3. Later that day, when she told her husband about the lilacs, he said that he knew where they could find all that she wanted and told her to get the children and come on.

4. So they went, driving down the country roads.

5. There on a small hill, they saw a lot of beautiful purple lilacs.

6. The young woman ran quickly to enjoy the flowers.

7. Carefully, she picked a few here and a few there.

8. On their way home, there was a smile on her face.

9. When they were passing a nursing home, the young woman saw an old granny sitting in a chair.

10. She had no children with her.

11. They stopped the car, and the young woman walked to the old woman, put the flowers in her hands, and smiled at her.

12. The old granny thanked her again and again, and she smiled happily too.

13. When the young mother came back to her car, her children asked her who that old granny was and why she had given their flowers to her.

14. The mother said that she didn’t know the old granny.

15. She explained that it was Mother's Day, and the old granny had no children.

16. She added that she had all of them and still had her mother.
