第二十三章：花园里的告白Chapter 23: A Garden Confession 那天晚上，天气闷热，天空乌云密布。
That evening, the weather was hot, and the sky was full of dark clouds.
我走到花园里，想呼吸一下新鲜空气。
I walked into the garden to get some fresh air.
突然，我听到罗切斯特先生在后面叫我。
Suddenly, I heard Mr. Rochester calling behind me.
“别走，简。我正要找你。”他说。
“Don’t go, Jane. I was looking for you,” he said. 我们一起慢慢地走在花园小路上。
We walked slowly along the garden path.
他的神情很严肃，我感觉他要说什么重要的事。
He looked serious. I felt he had something important to say.
“你会离开桑菲尔德吗？”他问。
“Will you leave Thornfield?” he asked.
“如果您要结婚，我就得离开。”我回答。
“If you are going to marry, I must go,” I answered. 他沉默了一会儿，然后突然说：
He was silent for a moment, then suddenly said:
“我要娶的人是你，简，不是别人。”
“The person I want to marry is you, Jane. No one else.”
我惊讶地看着他，以为他在开玩笑。
I looked at him in surprise, thinking he was joking.
“您是在考验我吗？”我问。
“Are you testing me?” I asked. “不，我是认真的。”他说。
“No, I am serious,” he said.
“你让我感到快乐，我想你永远留在我身边。”
“You make me happy. I want you to stay with me forever.”
我心里充满了喜悦，但又有些不敢相信。
My heart was full of joy, but I could hardly believe it.
“我只是一个不起眼的家庭教师。”我说。
“I am only a plain governess,” I said. “在我眼中，你是最好的。”他回答。
“To me, you are the best,” he replied.
雷声在远处滚动，风也开始吹了起来。
Thunder rolled in the distance, and the wind began to blow.
他握住我的手，我们站在树下。
He took my hand, and we stood under the tree.
“你愿意嫁给我吗？”他问。
“Will you marry me?” he asked. “我愿意。”我轻声说。
“I will,” I said softly.
就在那一刻，天空被一道闪电照亮。
At that moment, a flash of lightning lit up the sky.
大雨突然落下，我们跑回屋里。
Heavy rain began to fall, and we ran back into the house.
我不知道，暴风雨也带来了命运的考验。
I did not know then that the storm had brought a test of fate. |
