狐狸皮之谜

the Mystery of the Fox Skins

1．

列那狐饥肠辘辘，悄悄潜入一处牧场。

Reynard the Fox, hungry again, quietly sneaks into a farm.

2．

他动作敏捷，在草垛后躲来躲去，连鸡狗都没发现他的身影。

He moves swiftly, hiding behind haystacks—neither the chickens nor the watchdogs notice him.

3．

他叼走一只母鸡，又偷了几个鸡蛋，吃得津津有味。

He snatches a hen and steals some eggs, enjoying them greedily.

4．

第二天，牧场主发现鸡少了，鸡蛋也被吃光，气得拍桌大骂。

The next day, the farmer finds chickens missing and eggs gone. Furious, he slams the table in anger.

5．

“又是那只狐狸！这次我非抓住他不可！”他咆哮道。

“It’s that fox again! This time I’ll catch him for sure!” he roars.

6．

于是，他请来村里的猎人，在牧场四周布下陷阱。

He invites local hunters and sets traps all around the farm.

7．

他们一无所获，只找到一些脚印和鸡毛。

They have nothing to show—only footprints and feathers.

8．

猎人不甘心，在牧场主的仓库里随意走动。

One of the hunters, unwilling to give up, wanders through the farmer’s barn.

9．

突然，他看到墙上挂着一排狐狸皮，共十张！

Suddenly, he sees a row of fox pelts hanging on the wall—ten in total!

10．

他惊讶地问：“你不是说你只剥过九只狐狸吗？”

He exclaims, “Didn’t you say you only ever skinned nine foxes?”

11．

牧场主转头一看，脸色一变：“怎么会有十张？！我确实只剥过九只！”

The farmer turns, shocked: “How can there be ten?! I really only skinned nine!”

12．

两人一起数了一遍，又数了一遍，确实是十张。

They count once, then again—it’s ten for sure.

13．

“难道……那只最后混进来的，是他自己挂上去的？”

“Could it be… the last one was hung there by the fox himself?”

14．

两人对视，突然大叫：“不好！那是假的！”

They look at each other and shout, “No! That’s a trick!”

15．

这时，列那狐从屋后一跃而出，扭头狂奔逃走了。

Just then, Reynard the Fox leaped out from behind the house and ran off at full speed.
