The Treasure Conspiracy

1．

狮子国王大手一挥：“立即执行绞刑！”

The Lion King raised his paw and declared, “Execute the hanging immediately!”

2．

列那狐猛地一惊，脸色大变，结结巴巴地喊：“等一下！我……我还没说宝藏的事！”

Reynard’s eyes widened in panic. “Wait! I... I haven’t told you about the treasure!”

3．

“什么宝藏？”国王皱起眉头，“都退下，让他说清楚！”

“What treasure?” the King frowned. “Everyone stand back—let him explain!”

4．

列那低声说道：“我参与了一场推翻陛下的阴谋……我必须坦白。”

Reynard lowered his voice. “I was involved in a plot to overthrow Your Majesty... I must confess.”

5．

“狼、熊、猫三人，暗中收买我，要我当他们的军师。”

“The Wolf, the Bear, and the Cat bribed me in secret. They wanted me to be their strategist.”

6．

“他们拿出一大箱宝藏，说只要我帮忙谋划推翻您，就能让我分一半。”

“They showed me a big chest of treasure and said if I helped them dethrone you, I’d get half.”

7．

“他们正得意洋洋，盘算如何起兵，而我假装答应，一边把消息藏在心里。”

“They were full of pride, plotting how to raise troops. I pretended to agree but kept the secret buried.”

8．

国王眼中闪过一丝怒火：“他们真的想推翻我？”

A fire lit in the Lion’s eyes. “They dare to plot against me?”

9．

列那点点头：“若陛下愿意赦免我，我将带您亲自找到藏着证据和宝藏的地方。”

Reynard nodded. “If Your Majesty pardons me, I’ll lead you to where the treasure and proof are hidden.”

10．

狮子国王咆哮一声：“把狼、熊、猫都关进牢里！等我拿到证据，再收拾他们！”

The Lion King roared, “Throw the Wolf, the Bear, and the Cat into prison! Once I have the evidence, I’ll deal with them all!”

11．

列那狐对国王说：“陛下，跟我一起去取宝藏吧。”

Reynard said to the King, “Your Majesty, come with me to collect the treasure.”

12．

国王摇头说：“你留在宫中，我派山羊和兔子代表我去你家取宝。”

The King shook his head. “You stay. I’ll send the Goat and the Hare to fetch it.”

13．

其实列那的家离宫殿不远，但他却故意带使者绕来绕去，走了一整天。

In truth, Reynard’s house wasn’t far, but he led them around for a whole day.

14．

他是在拖延时间，好周密地想出下一步的对策。

He was buying time—to craft his next plan with precision.

15．

一到家，他悄悄对妻子说：“我要惩罚这些人。但得先对他们热情一点。”

Upon arriving home, he whispered to his wife, “I’ll punish them. But first, let’s be welcoming.”

16．

山羊和兔子不停催促：“快带我们去拿宝藏！”

The Goat and the Hare kept urging, “Hurry and show us the treasure!”

17．

狐狸的妻子笑着说：“不急不急，先进屋喝杯水。”

Reynard’s wife smiled, “No rush. Come inside and have a drink first.”

18．

她把兔子领进屋里，假装带他找宝藏，却用酒瓶把兔子打晕了。

She led the Hare inside, pretending to show the treasure—then knocked him out with a wine bottle.

19．

山羊在门外等啊等，一直等到天黑。

The Goat waited outside for hours—until night fell.

20．

这时，狐狸全家摆出晚宴，热情款待山羊，哄他喝酒取信。

Then the fox family hosted a grand feast, warmly entertaining the Goat, filling his cup to gain his trust.

21．

山羊喝得东倒西歪，一觉睡到天亮。

The Goat drank himself silly and slept until morning.

22．

第二天，他突然想起：“糟了，国王还在等宝藏！”

The next day he awoke. “Oh no—the King is still waiting for the treasure!”

23．

他赶紧去敲列那家的门，列那假惺惺地递给他一袋“宝物”。

He rushed to knock on Reynard’s door. Reynard handed him a sack with a sly smile.

24．

山羊满心欢喜地将宝袋献给国王。

The Goat beamed and presented the sack to the King.

25．

国王打开一看，里面是一堆破布、烂骨头和旧瓶盖。

The King opened it—it was full of rags, bones, and broken bottle caps.

26．

国王勃然大怒：“列那敢耍我！”

The King was furious. “Reynard dares to mock me!”

27．

他下令释放狼、熊、猫：“你们跟我一起去讨伐列那！”

He ordered the Wolf, Bear, and Cat released. “We march together—to hunt down Reynard!”
