Chapter 1: The Prince’s Curse

1. Long ago, a prince lived in a beautiful castle.

2. He wore a golden crown and shiny clothes.

3. He looked handsome, but he was very proud inside.

4. He didn’t care about others, only about himself.

5. One night, a ragged old woman came to the castle door.

6. She asked the prince to let her in from the rain, offering a rose in exchange for shelter.

7. The prince refused her rose and cruelly turned her away.

8. The old woman warned him not to judge people by their looks, for true beauty lies within.

9. The prince did not listen and still ordered her to leave.

10. Suddenly, the old woman vanished and turned into a beautiful enchantress.

11. The prince was shocked, but it was too late to apologize.

12. The enchantress punished him and turned him into a scary beast.

13. She also turned the servants into talking furniture.

14. She gave the prince a magic rose.

15. The rose would bloom fully on the prince’s twenty-first birthday.

16. If he could fall in love with a girl before the last petal fell,

17. and earn her love in return, the spell would be broken.

18. Otherwise, he would remain a beast forever and never become human again.

19. Ashamed of his hideous appearance, the Beast shut himself away in the castle.

20. Only a magic mirror allowed him to see the outside world.

21. Year after year passed, and the prince fell into despair.

22. He no longer had any hope,

23. for who could ever learn to love a beast?
