Chapter 1: Childhood

1. Long, long ago, in a faraway land, there was a tiny kingdom,

2. A kingdom that was peaceful, prosperous, traditional, and romantic.

3. There lived a gentleman and his beautiful daughter, Cinderella.

4. But his dear wife died early, and left them alone in the world.

5. So, the gentleman vowed to give his daughter the best of everything.

6. Yet, he saw that the child still longed for a mother’s love.

7. And so he married again.

8. His second wife had two daughters about the same age as Cinderella,

9. One was named Anastasia, and the other, Drizella.

10. While the gentleman lived, the stepmother seemed kind to Cinderella.

11. But soon, the gentleman also passed away.

12. Then the stepmother revealed her cruel and selfish nature.

13. Her daughters lived like princesses,

14. While poor Cinderella was sent to the attic,

15. And made a servant in her own home.

16. Though treated unfairly, kind Cinderella never complained.

17. She held only one dream in her heart—that someday, her dreams would come true.
