1. On the morning after the ball, a royal proclamation was issued:

3. The King ordered the Grand Duke to take the glass slipper and travel throughout the kingdom to find the girl whose foot fit the shoe.

8. Her stepmother and stepsisters were extremely excited when they heard it.

16. Humming the cheerful tune from her dance last night,

17. Cinderella was full of anticipation, completely immersed in her happy memories.

18. Her stepmother noticed the change in Cinderella’s expression,

20. The secretive smile on Cinderella’s face made the stepmother suspicious.

21. 'Could it be...' the stepmother thought to herself.

23. The idea filled her with shock and anger.

24. She quietly slipped out of Cinderella's room and suddenly slammed the door shut,

25. locking Cinderella inside the attic bedroom.

26. 'You'll stay here, won't you!' the stepmother said coldly through the door,

27. making sure Cinderella could not step foot outside her room.

28. Cinderella panicked and pounded on the door,

29. but the heavy door was firmly locked, and no matter how she pounded, it was no use.

30. Soon after, the royal carriage indeed arrived at their house.

31. The stepmother composed herself with a smile and brought her two daughters to greet the royal messenger.

32. Cinderella heard the commotion outside and grew even more anxious,

33. but trapped in her room she could do nothing but worry.
