Chapter 5 The Dementor

第二天清晨，哈利在破釜酒吧的嘈杂声中醒来。客厅里堆满了行李，韦斯莱家的孩子们、赫敏，以及海德薇、斑斑和克鲁克山都在等魔法部的汽车。

The next morning, Harry wakes up to noise and chaos in the Leaky Cauldron. All the Weasley children, Hermione, Hedwig, Scabbers and Crookshanks are waiting for the Ministry cars to take them to the station.

韦斯莱先生神色紧张，他盯着哈利看，直到汽车抵达。汽车飞快驶向国王十字车站，虽然没有骑士公共汽车那样疯狂，却同样风驰电掣。

Mr Weasley looks nervous and keeps an eye on Harry as the cars arrive. They speed toward King’s Cross Station—not as fast as the Knight Bus, but still alarmingly quick.

到站后，韦斯莱先生仔细察看街道，催促孩子们进站，并把哈利护在身边。“我们两两穿墙，”他说，“我先带哈利过去。”

At the station Mr Weasley checks the street, hustles the children inside, and keeps Harry close. “We’ll go through the barrier in pairs,” he says. “I’ll go first with Harry.”

他们倚在隔挡墙上，下一秒便穿过障壁，跌入九又四分之三站台。

They lean casually against the barrier—and suddenly fall through it, arriving on platform nine‑and‑three‑quarters.

朱红色的霍格沃茨特快静静候发，站台上巫师父母与孩子们依依惜别。不久，罗恩兄妹也穿墙而来，太太韦斯莱眼含泪光，高喊：“要乖哦！”

The scarlet Hogwarts Express waits while witches and wizards say farewell to their children. Soon Ron and his siblings burst through the wall, and Mrs Weasley, eyes shining, cries, “Be good!”

哈利、罗恩和赫敏登上火车。“我得跟你们私下谈谈。”哈利低声说。他们四处找空包厢，结果全都坐满，只剩一个熟睡的男人在里头。

Harry, Ron and Hermione climb aboard. “I really need to talk to you in private,” Harry murmurs. They search for an empty compartment—all full except one, where a man sleeps.

那人身着旧袍，面容年轻却有几缕斑白头发。“是谁？”罗恩低语。“行李牌写着RJ 卢平教授。”赫敏指着箱子。

He wears shabby robes; his face is young but streaked with gray. “Who d’you reckon it is?” Ron whispers. “Professor R. J. Lupin,” Hermione says, pointing to the label on his case.

“他教什么？”罗恩问。“肯定是黑魔法防御术，只有那门课缺老师。”赫敏回答。“但愿他比上一个强。”罗恩叹气，随后望向哈利。

“What does he teach?” Ron asks. “Defence Against the Dark Arts—it’s the only vacancy,” Hermione replies. “Hope he’s better than the last one,” Ron sighs, then turns to Harry.

哈利压低声音，把韦斯莱夫妇议论小天狼星的事原原本本讲给他们听。罗恩与赫敏听得目瞪口呆。

In a low voice Harry recounts everything Mr and Mrs Weasley said about Sirius Black. Ron and Hermione stare, astonished.

“小天狼星逃狱是为了杀你？”赫敏惊呼。“没人从阿兹卡班逃出来过！”罗恩发抖。“他们会抓到他的。”赫敏安慰道。

“Sirius Black escaped to find you—to kill you?” Hermione gasps. “No one’s ever broken out of Azkaban,” Ron quivers. “They’ll catch him,” Hermione says firmly.
