Chapter 4: The Little Prince and the Fox
1. The Little Prince walked for a long time on Earth, feeling very lonely. 2. He came to a golden wheat field and saw a fox. 3. The fox saw the Little Prince and said, 'Hello.' 4. The Little Prince answered, 'Hello, you are so cute. Will you play with me?' 5. The fox shook his head and said, 'I cannot play with you, because I have not been tamed.' 6. The Little Prince asked in confusion, 'What does tame mean?' 7. The fox explained patiently, 'To tame means to build a bond, making each other special.' 8. 'To me, you are just a little boy, like thousands of other boys.' 9. 'But if you tame me, we will need each other.' 10. The Little Prince listened carefully and slowly understood. 11. Every day he visited the fox, sitting a little closer than the day before. 12. Gradually, they were no longer strangers but became friends. 13. The fox said happily, 'Now the golden wheat will remind me of your hair.' 14. The Little Prince felt warm inside, but he knew he would soon leave. 15. With tears in his eyes, the fox told him, 'If you tame me, you must always remember me.' 16. The Little Prince also felt sad and said, 'I will remember, because you remind me of my rose.' 17. The fox told him, 'You are responsible for what you have tamed.' 18. The Little Prince thought of his rose, and tears filled his eyes. 19. The fox whispered, 'What is essential is invisible to the eyes.' 20. The Little Prince nodded. He finally understood the meaning of love and responsibility. |
