Chapter 3: The Voyage in the Bottle
Alice drinks the potion and becomes small again. She is so small that she falls into the bottle. The bottle floats in the pool of tears. The door opens wide and lets the bottle flow out. Alice drifts out through the keyhole. She floats and floats in the water. She shouts, “Help me! Help me!” The tears carry her away like waves. She is washed up onto the land. Alice gasps and brushes the water off herself. Suddenly, a parrot flies over, singing a song. Alice smiles and says, “Hello, singing parrot!” The parrot says, “Hello, little girl, welcome here.” She hears someone shouting in the distance. A familiar voice says, “I’m late! I’m late!” Alice looks up and sees the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit is still checking his watch, hurrying along. Alice shouts, “Wait, Mr. Rabbit!” The White Rabbit looks back at her and runs away again. Alice says, “I must catch up with him!” She waves goodbye to the parrot and walks on. She thinks, “This is truly a strange adventure.” |
