Chapter 14: The Queen’s FuryThe Queen of Hearts walks up to Alice. She narrows her eyes and says coldly: “Little girl, if you make me angry, you will lose your head too!” Suddenly, the Cheshire Cat appears out of nowhere. Its grin stretches wide. The Cat smiles mysteriously at Alice and says: “We can make her furious… Shall we try?” Alice waves her hands nervously. She says, “No! Don’t make things worse!” But just then, the Queen loses her balance. She falls heavily to the ground! The Queen gets up, her face bright red. She points at Alice and shouts: “It was her! Off with her head!” The scene instantly turns chaotic. The King quickly steps forward, trying to calm things down. He says cautiously: “My dear, perhaps… we should not pass judgment so quickly.” The King adds, “Why not let her… stand a trial?” The Queen glares, breathing heavily. She is silent for a moment. Then she nods reluctantly. She says, “Very well! Let there be a trial!” Alice’s heart pounds in fear. The scene shifts from deadly tension to another kind of absurd drama — a trial. |
