Chapter 2: The Fairies’ Plan

1. The king was still worried about his daughter’s safety.

2. So he ordered all the spinning wheels in the kingdom to be burned.

3. The people obeyed his order at once.

4. The three fairies anxiously tried to find a way to stop the evil witch’s curse.

5. The green fairy said, “We could try to reason with Maleficent.”

6. The other fairies shook their heads and said, “She has no kindness in her heart.”

7. The blue fairy wanted to turn the witch into a fat toad.

8. Sadly, her magic was not strong enough.

9. The red fairy said, “There must be a way!”

10. Suddenly, she thought of a plan—to turn the princess into a flower.

11. But the other fairies said, “In winter, the flower would freeze.”

12. So they started thinking of another plan.

13. Then the red fairy thought of another idea.

14. She said, “This is the only way.”

15. “We shall disguise ourselves as peasant women and raise the child deep in the forest.”

16. As she spoke, the three of them turned into peasant women.

17. With heavy hearts, the king and queen watched their only beloved daughter disappear into the night.
