Chapter 3: The Sixteenth Birthday 1. The king and his people spent sixteen years in sorrow and loneliness. 2. As the princess’s sixteenth birthday approached, joy returned to the kingdom. 3. But everyone knew that the evil witch was furious. 4. Her prophecy had not yet come true. 5. So many years had passed, and she had not even found the princess’s shadow. 6. The witch roared, “She cannot have vanished without a trace!” 7. Her servants answered nervously, “We have searched for sixteen years.” 8. The witch shouted again, “Are you sure you have searched everywhere?” 9. Her eyes blazed with anger. 10. She swore that she would find the princess and make her curse come true. 11. The witch punished every soldier who had failed to find the princess. 12. Her fury made everyone tremble with fear. 13. Then she called for her trusted black raven. 14. She said coldly, “I can only rely on you now.” 15. “Go, fly high, and search for a sixteen-year-old girl.” 16. “She has golden hair like sunshine and lips red as roses.” 17. “Go! And do not disappoint me!” 18. The raven spread its wings and soared into the sky, beginning the search for Aurora. |
