Chapter 4: Aurora in the Forest

1. For sixteen years, no one knew where the princess was.

2. Only in a little cottage deep in the mountains, three kind fairies carefully carried out their plan.

3. They raised the princess as their own daughter.

4. They named her “Briar Rose.”

5. Today was the princess’s sixteenth birthday.

6. The fairies planned to hold a birthday party to give her a wonderful surprise.

7. They discussed making a splendid princess dress for her.

8. Just then, the princess came in and asked what they were doing.

9. The three fairies stammered and said they wanted her to pick strawberries.

10. As they spoke, they gently pushed the princess out the door.

11. The princess said, “But we picked strawberries just yesterday!”

12. The fairies quickly replied, “It’s not enough, we need many, many more.”

13. “Don’t hurry back, don’t go too far, and don’t talk to strangers.”

14. After the princess left, the fairies hurried to prepare a cake.

15. They also made a real princess dress.
