Chapter 4 · Danger Comes

The great stag lifted his head and looked at the sky, very alert.

Crows cawed noisily and flew about in panic.

The great stag quickly signaled everyone to leave the meadow.

The scene turned chaotic as the herd rushed to escape.

Bambi’s mother ran while desperately searching for him.

“Bambi! Bambi!” she called again and again.

Bambi also cried out loudly in the meadow, “Mother! Mother!”

At last, his mother found him and quickly led him into the forest.

After a long while, Bambi’s mother came out to check.

She whispered, “Come out now, it’s safe.”

“We don’t need to hide any longer.”

Bambi asked, “What happened, Mother? Why was everyone running away?”

His mother answered gravely, “There are men in the forest.”

As she spoke, she led Bambi deeper into the forest.

Autumn came, and the leaves fell one by one.

The weather grew colder.

Winter came, and the forest was covered in deep snow.

Bambi followed his mother, searching for food in the snow.

Bambi’s mother lowered her head and found some tender grass.

She said, “Eat quickly, Bambi.”
