第一章 小象的诞生

Chapter 1： The Baby Elephant

在热闹的马戏团里，动物们一个接一个迎来了小宝宝。
In the busy circus, animals welcomed their babies one by one.

一只母象焦急地等待着她的孩子。
A mother elephant was waiting anxiously for her baby.

有一天，她终于收到了一个大礼物——一只小象。
One day, she finally received a big gift—a baby elephant.

小象的身体胖乎乎的，看起来十分可爱。
The baby elephant was chubby and looked very cute.

但是，当大家看到他时，都惊讶地睁大了眼睛。
But when everyone saw him, they opened their eyes wide in surprise.

因为这只小象长着一对特别大的耳朵。
Because this little elephant had an especially big pair of ears.

耳朵大得几乎拖到了地上。
His ears were so big that they almost touched the ground.

母象虽然有点惊讶，但依然满心欢喜。
The mother elephant was surprised, but she was still full of joy.

她轻轻地抚摸着小象，给他温暖和爱。
She gently touched her baby, giving him warmth and love.

其他的母象却开始窃窃私语。
The other elephants began whispering to each other.

有的说：“这耳朵太大了，真是奇怪！”
Some said, “Those ears are too big, so strange!”

有的笑着说：“他长得像个笑话。”
Others laughed, “He looks like a joke.”

小象听不懂他们的话，但感觉到气氛不对。
Dumbo didn’t understand their words, but he felt something was wrong.

母象用身体挡在小象面前，不让别人伤害他。
His mother stood in front of him, not letting anyone hurt him.

小象抬起头，用好奇的眼睛看着世界。
Dumbo lifted his head, looking at the world with curious eyes.

他不知道自己和别人有什么不同。
He didn’t know how he was different from the others.

对他来说，一切都是新鲜的。
For him, everything was new.

他笨拙地走了几步，耳朵在地上拖来拖去。
He walked a few clumsy steps, his ears dragging on the ground.

母象微笑着鼓励他：“你真勇敢。”
His mother smiled and encouraged him, “You are so brave.”

在母亲的怀抱里，小象感到很安全。
In his mother’s arms, Dumbo felt very safe.

尽管别人议论纷纷，他依然是妈妈的宝贝。
Even though others talked about him, he was still his mother’s treasure.

她决定无论如何都要保护这个特别的孩子。
She decided to protect her special child no matter what.
