第三章 · 妈妈受罚

Chapter 3 · Mother in Trouble

有一天，一群顽皮的孩子来到马戏团。
One day, a group of naughty children came to the circus.

他们看到小飞象，觉得他很好笑。
They saw Dumbo and thought he looked funny.

他们拉他的耳朵，还往他身上扔花生壳。
They pulled his ears and threw peanut shells at him.

小飞象害怕极了，拼命往后退。
Dumbo was very scared and stepped back quickly.

他的妈妈听到哭声，立刻冲了出来。
His mother heard him crying and rushed out at once.

她挥动长鼻子，把那些孩子吓跑了。
She swung her long trunk and scared the boys away.

马戏团的人看见后，误会她发疯了。
The circus people saw this and thought she had gone mad.

他们大喊：“快！把那只大象关起来！”
They shouted, “Quick! Lock that elephant up!”

母象拼命想解释，却没人听她说话。
The mother elephant tried to explain, but no one listened.

她被铁链锁住，拉进了黑暗的小屋。
She was chained and dragged into a dark cage.

小飞象跟着跑去，却被赶了出来。
Dumbo followed her, but he was pushed away.

他哭着喊：“妈妈！妈妈！”
He cried and called out, “Mama! Mama!”

可是笼子的门被锁上了。
But the door of the cage was locked tight.

马戏团的灯光亮着，却没有人理会他们。
The circus lights were bright, but no one cared about them.

小飞象趴在门口，耳朵拖在地上。
Dumbo lay down by the door, his ears resting on the ground.

里面传来妈妈的声音：“别哭，孩子。”
From inside came his mother’s voice, “Don’t cry, my child.”

她伸出长鼻子，轻轻摸了摸小飞象的头。
She stretched out her trunk and gently touched Dumbo’s head.

小飞象依偎在那根长鼻子上，流着眼泪。
Dumbo leaned against her trunk, tears falling down his face.

马戏团的夜晚很安静，只有风在吹。
The night at the circus was quiet, and only the wind was blowing.

从那天起，小飞象再也见不到妈妈了。
From that day on, Dumbo could no longer see his mother.

他被单独关在马戏团的小棚子里。
He was kept alone in a small tent at the circus.

没有人陪他玩，也没人再笑。
No one played with him, and no one laughed anymore.

他常常抬头望着星星，想着妈妈在哪里。
He often looked up at the stars, wondering where his mother was.

他在心里对自己说：“我要变得勇敢。”
He told himself, “I must be brave.”

夜风轻轻吹过，他的耳朵在风中轻轻摆动。
The night wind blew softly, and his ears swayed in the breeze.
