Return and New Beginning

The sea became calm again.

The sunlight broke through the clouds and shone on Te Fiti.

She gently reached out her hand and touched the earth.

Green vines grew fast, and flowers bloomed on the rocks.

The world was full of life again.

Te Fiti looked down at Maui.

Maui knelt and said, “I’m sorry for stealing your heart.”

Te Fiti wasn’t angry; she smiled.

She touched his head and fixed his cracked fishhook.

“Thank you,” Maui said with emotion.

Then she turned to Moana.

“Brave girl, you brought the light back to the world.”

She gently touched Moana’s forehead with her finger.

A soft light flashed, and the sea became gentle.

Te Fiti returned to the heart of the sea and went to rest again.

Moana and Maui began their journey home.

They looked at the shining stars in the distance.

Maui said, “You’re amazing, kid.”

Moana smiled, “I couldn’t have done it without you.”

They said goodbye to each other.

Maui turned into a giant hawk and flew into the sky.

Moana sailed back to Motunui Island alone.

Her people welcomed her on the shore.

Her father and mother hugged her tightly.

The villagers looked at her with pride.

Moana lifted the green stone high.

She placed it on top of the sacred mountain.

At that moment, the island wind blew again.

The elders lit torches, and the children danced around the fire.

The waves sang softly along the shore.

Moana led her people back to the ocean.

Their boats lined up across the blue sea.

They sang the ancient songs of voyaging.

“We know the way, for our hearts will guide us.”

The sunlight shone on her face.

Her eyes were strong and bright.

Moana smiled and whispered to the sea:

“Thank you.”

The waves gently replied with a sparkle of light.

Her journey was over, but a new one had just begun.
