Chapter Two: The King’s Son

The sun rose as Simba stretched inside the cave.

He couldn’t wait to see his father’s kingdom.

Mufasa took him to the top of Pride Rock.

“Simba, look. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.”

Simba widened his eyes. “All of it?”

“Yes, but a king must understand balance and responsibility.”

Mufasa explained the circle of life: the eaters of grass, the hunters, and the grass growing again.

“We are all connected in the Circle of Life.”

Simba nodded seriously, though he didn’t fully understand.

Just then, Scar appeared from the shadows.

“Well, well, the future king,” Scar said coldly.

Simba ran up innocently. “Good morning, Uncle Scar!”

Scar smirked. “Do you know about the Elephant Graveyard? It’s… dangerous and exciting.”

Simba’s eyes lit up. “Really? Can I go?!”

Scar pretended to panic. “Oh no, you must never go there. Especially not with your little friend Nala.”

Simba grew even more excited, not realizing it was a trap.

When Mufasa returned, Scar quickly backed away.

Mufasa looked at Simba. “Remember, you must become a true king.”

Simba lifted his head proudly. “I’ll be as great as you!”

Mufasa smiled softly. “Being yourself is enough.”
