Chapter Five: Exile and Loneliness

Scar walked toward Simba, pretending to care. “Oh dear, what happened?”

Simba cried, “It was my fault… I killed my father…”

Scar hid a cruel smile behind a soft voice.

“Yes… and everyone will think it was you.”

Simba trembled. “What should I do?”

“Run away. Run far, far away… and never return.”

Simba obeyed Scar’s words and ran into the deep savanna, tears streaming down.

Scar then ordered the hyenas, “Follow him… and kill him!”

The hyenas chased Simba wildly.

Simba leapt into a thorny area, running for his life.

Thorns cut his skin, but he kept running.

At last, he leapt onto a rock and tumbled down a hill.

The hyenas stopped and shouted, “If you ever come back, we’ll finish the job!”

Exhausted, Simba staggered into the desert.

The burning sun scorched him, and his steps grew slower.

Finally, he collapsed in the sand and fainted.

Just then, two small shadows appeared under the hot sun.

“Look! It’s a little lion!” Timon shouted.

“Should we eat him?” Pumbaa asked.

Timon frowned. “No no no… I think we should save him.”
