Chapter Eight: Return to Pride Rock Mufasa’s voice echoed in the sky, leaving Simba speechless. “Remember who you are.” The words echoed in his heart. Simba stood up, his eyes firm—he was a changed lion. Rafiki happily tapped his staff. “He’s back!” Simba ran to Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa. “I’m going back. My home needs me.” Nala nodded eagerly. “We’ll go with you.” Timon and Pumbaa trembled with fear but decided to follow. They set off on the long journey, crossing mountains, plains, and deserts. As Simba approached the Pride Lands, dark clouds covered the sky. The once green fields were now burned and dry. The animals were thin and weak; the land felt lifeless. Seeing this, Simba felt both heartbroken and furious. He finally understood he could no longer run from his destiny. Zazu saw them returning and almost burst into tears of relief. Zazu said, “Scar has driven all the animals to the edge of despair.” Simba looked up at Pride Rock—Scar was standing at the top. Lightning flashed across the sky, lighting up Simba’s silhouette. Nala whispered, “Simba, are you ready?” Simba took a deep breath. “I’m taking back what’s mine.” He stepped forward as the wind roared behind him—the king had returned.
