Chapter One: Loss and Promise

In the vast and beautiful coral reef, a pair of clownfish were looking for a new home.

The father fish was named Marlin, and the mother was named Coral.

They found a safe sea anemone and decided to live there.

Coral gazed lovingly at a row of fish eggs, her eyes full of joy.

She said, “When they hatch, we’ll have a big family.”

Suddenly, a fierce barracuda appeared in the distance.

Marlin swam in front of Coral, trying to protect his family.

Coral worried about the eggs and turned back toward them.

In an instant, the barracuda charged forward.

Everything happened too fast.

When it was over, Coral and most of the eggs were gone.

Marlin was left alone in the broken home, full of fear and sorrow.

He discovered that one egg had survived.

Marlin whispered, “I will protect you.”

He named the little fish Nemo.

When Nemo hatched, one of his fins was smaller than the other.

Marlin became even more worried and decided to watch over Nemo at all times.

He told Nemo, “The ocean is a dangerous place.”

But Nemo looked up at his father with curious eyes.

From that moment on, Marlin had only one goal: to protect Nemo.
