Chapter Seven: Learning to Be Brave Inside the tank, Gill began teaching Nemo the real escape plan. He said, “To get back to the ocean, you must learn to be brave.” Gill taught Nemo how to swim into the filter tube. On his first try, Nemo was scared by the strong current and backed out. The tank friends did not blame him. They encouraged Nemo to try again. Nemo took a deep breath and told himself, “I can do this.” This time, he successfully swam into the tube. Gill nodded. “Good. You’re improving.” Meanwhile, Marlin and Dory continued searching in the ocean. They came across a beautiful but dangerous group of jellyfish. The jellyfish glowed blue, looking like a field of stars. Marlin carefully led the way, avoiding the tentacles. Dory was accidentally stung. Though it hurt, she smiled and kept swimming. Marlin learned to listen to Dory instead of panicking. In the end, they made it safely through the jellyfish. Marlin realized that Nemo also needed to face danger. Back in the tank, Nemo was growing braver each day. Father and son were growing together on their separate journeys.
