Chapter Ten: The Echo of Freedom
William was sentenced to death, but he did not bow. The English hoped death would crush Scotland’s spirit. The crowd watched in silence at the execution ground. Their eyes held fear, but also respect. William was ordered to beg for mercy. But he refused. In his final moment, he gathered all his strength. What he shouted was not hatred, but freedom. The cry pierced the crowd. And it pierced fear itself. For the first time, the Scots realized they were not alone. William’s death did not end the war. Instead, it awakened many more. Years later, Robert led the army to gather once again. This time, there was no hesitation. They remembered the man who had stood up before them. They remembered the path he chose. On the battlefield, the banner of freedom rose again. William’s name was shouted aloud. Freedom echoed across the land of Scotland.
