Chapter Six: Mother Knows Best
The lanterns faded and the night grew quiet. Gothel suddenly appeared. She pretended to care for Rapunzel. She spoke sweetly. But her eyes showed control. She told Rapunzel Flynn was not to be trusted. She said people wanted to use her. Rapunzel began to doubt herself. Gothel took her back to the tower. She sang Mother Knows Best. She kept putting Rapunzel down. She called her naive. She said the world was dangerous. Rapunzel’s heart grew confused. She felt she was wrong. But she still remembered the lanterns. The lights told her she did not belong. Gothel held her hair tightly. Rapunzel felt fear. The truth began to wake.
