Chapter Eight: Escape and Pursuit
Mother Gothel took Rapunzel back to the tower. She spoke cruel lies in a gentle voice. She told Rapunzel that Eugene only wanted to use her. Rapunzel’s heart began to shake. She was locked in the tower and felt very lonely. Meanwhile, Eugene tried desperately to get back to Rapunzel. He was chased and blamed, but he did not give up. Two old friends also discovered Mother Gothel’s evil plan. They started to look for Eugene. In the dark tower, Rapunzel sat alone. She looked at her long golden hair. She remembered the lanterns, the lake, and Eugene’s smile. She finally realized Mother Gothel had been lying to her. She was not loved. She was being used. Just then, Eugene rushed into the tower. They finally saw each other again. But danger followed closely behind. Fate was pushing them toward a final choice. Truth and love were about to be tested in the darkness. |
