Chapter One Andy’s Room

There are many toys in Andy’s room.

These toys look like normal toys when Andy is there.

But when Andy leaves the room, something amazing happens.

All the toys come to life.

They can walk, talk, and hold meetings.

The leader of the toys is a cowboy.

His name is Woody.

Woody is a cowboy sheriff toy.

He wears a brown cowboy hat.

He wears a yellow checkered shirt.

Woody cares a lot about the other toys.

Every time Andy leaves the room, Woody calls a meeting.

Today the toys are having a meeting again.

They are nervous.

Because Andy’s birthday is coming.

A birthday means new toys.

New toys may take the place of old toys.

Many toys are worried.

Woody tries to calm them.

He says, 'Don’t worry.'

'Andy will not forget us.'

The toys slowly calm down.

Just then, they hear voices downstairs.

Andy’s birthday presents are being opened.

All the toys hold their breath.

They want to know if a new toy will come into the room.
