听力原文:

Text 1

M: Excuse me, Jenny. Could you lend me your dictionary for an hour or so? I haven’t been able to buy one yet.

W: You’re welcome to use it, Bob.

Text 2

W: Do you know how to drive a car?

M: I learned how to drive when I was eighteen.

Text 3

M: Are you ready for your final exam next week?

W: Not really, the reading list is too long. But I’ll take the test anyway.

Text 4

W: A table for how many, Sir?

M: Four. We’d like a table by the air-conditioner.

W: This way, please.

M: Thank you.

Text 5

M: What’s your favorite spare time activity?

W: I like to watch TV.

M: What kind of TV programme do you like best?

W: I like soap operas best of all.

Text 6

M: Good morning. City taxi.

W: Good morning. I’d like to book a taxi to the airport for Saturday morning, please.

M: Where from?

W: I’m at Garden Hotel in Union Street. There’ll be three of us sharing. How much will it be?

M: 60 dollars.

W: 60 dollars! Each or among us?

M: Oh, that’s all together. What time do you want to leave?

W: Seven in the morning.

M: Right. We’ll pick you up at your hotel at seven, then.

W: Thank you very much. Goodbye.

Text 7

M: Hi, Julia. Are you going to the party this Saturday?

W: No, I’m not allowed to.

M: You’re allowed to go to parties, aren’t you?

W: No. There’re lots of things I can’t do.

M: Like what?

W: Well, I’m not allowed to watch TV at all.

M: Really? But there are many good shows. You can learn a lot.

W: Also, I’m not allowed to shop for clothes. My mother buys them.

M: Do your parents do everything for you?

W: No, but they have plenty of rules.

M: Are you allowed to have a pet?

W: Oh, yes!

M: What else are you allowed to do?

W: My parents allow me to study all night. If I follow their rules, I will be a good student.

Text 8

W: I just read an interesting fact. Did you know that people who spend less than ten minutes in a store are five times more likely to buy things than those who spend half an hour there?

M: I read that article, too. But I think, if someone has been in a store for ten minutes, he usually has something special to buy.

W: And someone who spends more time there may be just looking?

M: Exactly. Haven’t you ever gone into a store, thinking you’d buy something, and then talked yourself out of it?

W: Yes, I have, especially when I thought I could get it cheaper elsewhere, or I really didn’t need it at all.

M: Exactly. But if you run into buying something special and have very little time, you pick it up, pay for it immediately, and then leave.

W: That’s true. Maybe we should learn a lesson from that: take your time and you’ll spend less money.

Text 9

W: Do you need some help?

M: I guess so. I’m just checking these college rankings. I want to find out which schools are the most popular.

W: Well, Southeast University has the most students.

M: I want to know which school is the most fun. Where do they have the best parties?

W: Um… I’m not sure I can help you there.

M: No? What about Guangzhou University? This magazine says it’s a “good times” school. Everybody who goes there has a lot of fun.

W: I’ve heard that it’s popular with students, but are you sure you want to attend a school that’s well known for its parties?

M: I don’t know. What was the other school you mentioned?

W: Southeast University?

M: Yeah, what’s it like?

W: Well, it’s a very old, well-established school. And the admissions requirements are tough, a lot tougher than Guangzhou University.

M: And you said it is really old?

W: It was established in 1854.

M: Wow! They must have some great party traditions!

Text 10

M: Good evening. Welcome to the first meeting of our spring cycling season. It’s a pleasure to see many new faces here. I certainly hope that most of you will soon feel right at home with our group and that bicycling will become a regular hobby for you. Some of you may not realize that the state of New Jersey offers enough opportunities for bicyclists of all abilities. Beginners will find the shore and area suitable for their needs while expert riders will discover that the rough paths to the region offer a challenge to their skill and energy. We organize tours to a variety of places at weekends. Next Saturday’s tour will be an easy one. Interested cyclists should meet at eight am in the parking area. The minimum time for this tour is about six hours. We will use a “buddy system” throughout the ride. If the buddies look after each other, we can be sure that no one will be left behind on the back roads. You can pick up a map of Saturday’s tour at the information table before you leave this meeting.
