M: I try not to. I don’t like pictures of people who set themselves for the camera. I like people who are going about their business without knowing the camera’s there.

W: I suppose you need a lot of equipment. How many cameras do you have?

M: Well, I have a dozen of them, but I use two of them more than the others.

W: Why did you buy a second-hand car for me? It is so disappointing. I thought you’d have bought me a new one.

M: Don’t be so angry, my darling. I wanted to buy a new car for you, but I haven’t got enough money at the moment, so when I got to the car market, I changed my mind.

W: I feel so ashamed to drive such an old car, you know. All my friends have good cars and beautiful houses. I really envy them.

M: I am sorry for that. Please forgive me. I can promise you that if my business grows better for three more years, I’ll surely make a fortune. Then I’ll buy you the most expensive car and a beautiful house with a nice big garden. And in the garden there will be a fountain（喷泉）and a swimming pool.

W: OK. That’s enough. Thank you for the crazy ideas. But for the moment, let’s see what we can do to make this car look better.

M: I was born right here in this house and I’ve lived in this city all my life. That seems unusual these days, doesn’t it? But it’s the way it used to be in the old days. People never used to move away from their hometown. They were born in a place, and they lived there until they died. My first wife died 10 years ago. We had 70 wonderful years together. We were very much alike; both of us loved a good conversation. That’s another thing that’s changed. People used to talk to each other more in the past. Now young people just watch TV. Yes, I have lived for a hundred years. As for my secret of long life, well, I laugh a lot. Laughing is very important and also I keep myself busy. I get a lot of exercise, too. I’ve always enjoyed sports. I went skiing and horseback riding regularly until I was 85. And I have always liked swimming. As a matter of fact, I still swim every day at the high school pool, and now that I’ve married again, I’ve started doing a little running.
